Report
Due to a combination of the Game Fair and Catton Park being held on the same day entries were not as high as we had hoped, and we therefore ran the tests together. The weather was not as kind as it had been on the previous days but we all enjoyed ourselves and we ended the proceedings after lunch.

Report
2005 saw the Midland Gundog Society once again participating in this prestigious team event.
Held over two days, a total of thirteen teams representing Retriever clubs from all over the country battle it out for top honours,
with the five highest placed teams automatically qualifying for the following years event.
The Society's team had been selected earlier in the year from the top dogs at the Open Working Test,
and were Malcolm Stringer with Clancallum Tamdhu, Ged Leeson with Pintail Hector of Styleside,
and Derrick Capel with Flashmount Pike (a Golden Retriever, a Chocolate Lab and a Yellow Lab!).
Reserve was Pat Taft with Barweston Apollo of Staftly, but sadly, due to ill health,
Pat was unable to attend and so Sally Plant with Golden Prince of Beccles kindly stepped in at short notice.
As in previous years, the first day saw all thirteen teams undertaking a series of marks and blinds,
either into the heavy bracken cover, or water, as a team exercise.
With Ged Leeson dashing back from other duties at the show on the other side of the river to run with the team,
Midland ended the day joint 4th, with two other teams, on 331 points.
With the top team only 7 points ahead, it was clear that the second day was going to provide a nail biting finish.
This proved to be the case, and with the Midland consolidating on the previous days good performance,
it ended with the team in fourth place, only 8 points behind the final winners and, importantly,
ensuring that the Society will be returning in 2006!
